Garage Cabinets
Closed storage without closing off the garage.
Closed storage needs open operating space
A cabinet conceals clutter, but its doors and drawers create a second footprint. Measure the closed unit including handles, then mark its fully usable position with someone standing in front. Do that with the vehicle parked normally.
Choose the installation format
Wall-mounted units free the floor for cleaning but transfer loads to the wall. Floor-supported units can simplify placement, yet may still need anti-tip attachment. Neither format makes an unknown wall or unsuitable mounting hardware acceptable.
Start with the contents
A tall compartment for long tools, a drawer for hardware, and a shelf for bins solve different problems. Compare usable openings, not just matching finishes. Check environmental limits and permitted contents; a household cabinet is not automatically suitable for fuels or other hazardous materials.

Can I install cabinets beside the car?
Sometimes. Verify handle projection, full door or drawer travel, and the person using it. A shallow cabinet that cannot open is not useful storage.
